WMWP participates in the development of an innovative financing instrument for publicly regulated areas

WMWP helped to develop the legal structure of an innovative financial instrument for an energy company in connection with the investment in electricity distribution infrastructure. The financial instrument is a new innovative approach, whereby the investment funds are regarded as equity capital but can be managed by the investor as debt capital.

“This newly developed approach is generally applicable to infrastructure investments in publicly regulated areas, which is why we assume that this form of financing can also be used very well in other utility sectors”,

said Dr. Martin Wiedenbauer, partner at WMWP – act legal Austria – who together with his team participated in this project.
